The ES/CQRS community often says you don’t need a framework, because the basic operations are trivial. That is true, as this talk shows. But failure, concurrency, and IO are not trivial, and even less so in reactive systems. Functional programming offers constructs that handle all of these while staying pure and principled. A solid functional foundation leads to better abstractions and more expressive models.
